Manti-La Sal National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape along the border of Sanpete and Emery Counties. The terrain is defined by prominent peaks like South Tent Mtn and North Tent Mtn, which overlook a complex system of drainage basins and irrigation infrastructure. Water management is a central theme, evidenced by features such as the Spring City Ditch, Potters Canyon Ditch, and Becks Ditch, illustrating how high-country snowmelt was historically diverted for use in the valleys below. High meadows such as Soren Peterson Meadow and Sheep Flat provided seasonal grazing land, while the remote drainage of Upper Joes Valley and Potters Ponds mark the eastern slopes. A network of primitive paths, including the Cow Fork Trl and Black Canyon Trl, spiderwebs across the ridges, following the natural contours of the Wasatch Plateau.
