The city of Muskogee and its western outskirts are the focus of this 2016 survey, documenting the transition from urban street grids to the open terrain of eastern Oklahoma. The residential expansion of West Muskogee gives way to the small settlements of Crekola and Summit, while the landscape is punctuated by prominent elevations such as Hofschulte Hill, Baucum Hill, and Chimney Mtn. These peaks provide a natural boundary between the developed city and the rural drainage basins of Butler Cr and Coody Cr. Local history is preserved in sites like Plainview Cem and Minegan Cem, which sit alongside established thoroughfares like Oktaha Rd. Modern infrastructure is evidenced by the 101001 Reservoir and 101002 Reservoir, highlighting the area's water management needs for both the municipality and the surrounding agricultural tracts.
