Spring Creek Colony and the nearby settlements of Amherst and Kingston define the central corridor of this Fergus County landscape. The topography is dominated by the dramatic rise of the South Moccasin Mountains and the southern edge of the North Moccasin Mountains, creating a narrow passage for both water and transportation. The irrigation and ranching infrastructure of the region is clearly visible through water management features such as the Bank Ranch Ditch and Lincoln Ditch, which divert flows from Warm Spring Cr across the northern flats.
