St George centers this mid-1980s landscape at the confluence of the Santa Clara River and the Virgin River. The city’s urban grid is well-defined, anchored by the Dixie Jr College campus and the Municipal Airport on the western ridge. This period shows significant suburban expansion into Bloomington and Bloomington Hills to the south, while the northern extent is constrained by the prominent Red Hills and West Black Ridge.

South of the main settlement, the topography transforms into a series of benches and washes, including the Price City Bench and Fort Pearce Wash.
