The settlement of Story serves as the focal point of this 2017 survey, situated at the boundary where the eastern plains meet the foothills of the Bighorn National Forest. This landscape is defined by its sophisticated water management systems, including the Meade Coffinan Ditch, Prairie Dog Kruse Ditch, and Big Piney Divide Ditch, which redirect local creek flows across the undulating terrain. To the south and west, the elevation rises sharply toward Moncreiffe Ridge and Grandmas Mtn, marking the transition into protected forest lands.
