2004 Map of Success

USGS Topo · Published 2006

About this map

Mark Twain National Forest dominates this section of the Ozark Plateau, where the transition between the settlement at Old Success and the newer Success PO illustrates the local shifting of rural centers. The terrain is defined by deep karst features like Scenic Sink and the winding drainages of Big Paddy Creek and East Fork Roubidoux Creek. To the east, Ellis Prairie occupies a more level upland, while the presence of a Limestone Quarry and scattered Mill sites points to the traditional resource extraction and processing that sustained these isolated communities. Other small nodes like Mitchells Corner and the locality of Vada mark the intersections of early timber and farm roads such as Paddy Creek Road and Mill Road.
