Doctor Rock and Peak Eight dominate the southern reaches of this high-elevation landscape within the Six Rivers National Forest. The area is defined by a series of steep drainages, most notably the Crescent City Fork and Buck Cr, which carve through the terrain between Lems Ridge and South Red Mtn. The eponymous Summit Valley sits in the northern half of the quadrangle, serving as a catchment area for several small tributaries.
