The Fort Huachuca Military Reservation occupies the northern reaches of this territory, where the terrain rises toward the heights of Huachuca Peak. Published just after the war, this survey captures a remote borderland defined by high-altitude ranching and hard-rock mining. Scattered across the Coronado National Forest are traces of extraction, including the Wakefield Mine Camp and several smaller operations like the Eureka Mine and Pomona Mine.

Settlement is sparse, primarily concentrated in family holdings such as Hathaway Ranch, Sylvania Ranch, and Newman Ranch. The landscape is carved by numerous drainages including Scotia Canyon and Miller Canyon, leading down toward the United States-Mexico border at the southern edge of the sheet. At Montezuma Pass, the geography shifts toward the desert Mesa, marking the transition from the forested peaks to the open border country.
