Fort A P Hill occupies a significant portion of this landscape, its presence defined by restricted military grounds and access routes like South Range Rd and Perimeter Rd. Outside the military reservation, a network of rural settlements and family-named junctions such as Goldmans Corner, Martins Corner, and Daniel Corner anchor the community. The topography is dominated by low-lying wetlands and intricate drainage systems, most notably the Black Water Swamp and Mason Swamp which feed into Portobago Creek.
