Sutcliffe serves as a central hub on the western edge of Pyramid Lake, where the desert terrain meets the shoreline at the base of the Virginia Mountains. This 2014 survey documents the modern layout of the community, showing the network of Sutcliffe Dr and Lakeview Dr providing access to the water. The map detail highlights the surrounding natural landmarks, from the sharp ascent of Hardscrabble Cañon and Hardscrabble Cr to the north, down toward Mullen Pass and the drainage of Mullen Cr in the south.
