The Sawtooth National Forest anchors the southwestern reaches of this high-desert landscape in Cassia County, where the southern tip of the Sublett Range meets the northern foothills of the Black Pine Mountains. The terrain is defined by a series of deep drainages, including Sweetzer Canyon, Jones Canyon, and Burnt Canyon, which channel seasonal water toward the wider Juniper Valley to the east. Transportation through this remote section of Idaho follows the contours of the land, notably along Juniper Rd, which parallels Meadow Creek as it winds through the northern passes.
