About this map

The Tanana River cuts a wide, braided path through this interior Alaskan landscape, meeting the Robertson River at the southern edge of the quadrangle. During the mid-1950s, the region was defined by the critical infrastructure of the Alaska Highway and a parallel Aboveground Pipeline, which trace a straight course along the base of the southwestern hills. These man-made corridors contrast sharply with the complex wetlands and numerous small lakes like Round Lake and Jan Lake that fill the valley floor.
