Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail winds through the high elevation border between Klamath National Forest and Shasta National Forest in this 2018 survey. The landscape is defined by the headwaters of the Trinity River and a dense network of alpine lakes and creeks. These water bodies, including Tangle Blue Lake, Big Bear Lake, and the diminutive Wee Bear Lake, are fed by several drainages such as Bear Cr and Horse Cr.
