Morgan Territory and the Black Hills dominate this mid-century topographic survey of the borderlands between Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. The landscape is defined by its dramatic relief, spanning from Windy Pt and Oyster Pt down into the narrow corridors of Collier Canyon and Doolan Canyon. A rural character prevails, with most social infrastructure already noted as past its prime by the time of the 1953 field check. This is evidenced by the presence of Tassajara Sch (Abandoned) and Highland Sch (Abandoned), pointing to a consolidation or shifting of the local ranching population. The settlement of Tassajara remains a central point, situated near the intersection of Tassajara Road and Finley Road. Significant land divisions are visible through the Las Positas Grant Bdy, while the northern reaches include the sprawling Round Valley and the drainage of Marsh Creek.
