Big Slough Branch defines the northern reaches of this coastal wilderness, where a complex network of drainage canals and forest roads cuts across the landscape. The interior is largely dominated by the expanse of Tates Hell Swamp, represented here through a grid of access points including Jet Engine Rd, Gully Branch Rd, and Tucker Rd. This 2012 survey illustrates the systematic division of the timberlands, showing how industrial forestry infrastructure has been superimposed over the natural drainage of the Whiskey George Cr basin. To the northeast, the New River provides a natural boundary, contrasting with the strictly linear paths of Buck Siding Rd and other routes that service this remote part of Franklin County. The map is a record of modern land management in one of Florida's most storied wetlands.
