The landscape is defined by the Taylor River drainage and the recently established Taylor Park Reservoir, which serves as a central focal point for the valley. Small settlements and ranching outposts such as Dorchester, Bowman, and the Bright Ranch are scattered throughout, connected by rugged routes like the Wheelbarrow Trail.
