The settlement of Techado stands at the intersection of NM-117 and NM-36 on this high-desert landscape in west-central New Mexico. The terrain is defined by a series of deep drainages and volcanic landmarks, including the prominent Hogeye Mtn and the appropriately named Gobbler Knob. Ranching footprints are evident throughout the quadrangle, with Towner Ranch, Davis Ranch, and Browns Ranch marking established livestock operations connected by a network of unimproved roads like Hubbell RD and Co Road a039.
