Telocaset sits at a geographic transition where the high desert meets the forested slopes of the Whitman National Forest. The landscape is defined by its water management and drainage patterns, anchored by the Thief Valley Reservoir to the south and Pyles-Canyon Reservoir Number Two to the north. These reservoirs, along with the Powder River—noted here as the Powder Wild and Scenic River—illustrate the vital importance of water rights and storage in this part of eastern Oregon.
