Thalmann and Jamaica anchor the southeastern portion of this coastal Georgia landscape, where the flatlands of Glynn, Wayne, and Brantley counties meet. The area is defined by a complex network of wetlands and wooded rises, including Tenmile Swamp and Little Buffalo Swamp. These marshes are punctuated by numerous hammocks and islands, such as Red Oak Hammock, Pepper Hammock, and Big Island, which provided dry ground for early settlement.
