Kootenai National Forest dominates this landscape in Northwest Montana, where the terrain is defined by a chain of glacial waters. The hydrologic network is centered on Upper Thompson Lake, Middle Thompson Lake, and Lower Thompson Lake, which are linked by the Thompson River as it flows south toward the boundary of Sanders Co. These basins are fed by numerous mountain streams including Tallulah Cr, Slimmer Creek, and Davis Cr.
