Upper Thompson Lake, Middle Thompson Lake, and Lower Thompson Lake form a dominant chain of water through this section of the Kootenai National Forest during the late 1990s. The landscape is defined by the sharp convergence of three county lines — Lincoln, Sanders, and Flathead — meeting amidst a network of high peaks and drainage basins. The small settlement of Yakt sits near the eastern boundary, while Logan Park provides a managed point of access along the central lakeshore.
