Thorofare Plateau dominates this high-altitude landscape in Park County, where complex drainage systems define the wild topography. The area is characterized by a network of steep-descending waterways, most notably Thorofare Cr and Castle Cr, which flow through the deep canyons and ridges. To the south, the terrain rises toward the peak of Thunder Mountain, overlooking the headwaters and tributaries that eventually feed into the N Fork Yellowstone River.
