The Ochlockonee River defines the eastern edge of this coastal Florida landscape, winding through a complex network of wetlands and low-lying drainages. Much of the territory is dominated by the Apalachicola National Forest, where high-clearance roads like White Bluff Rd and Roberts Landing Rd provide access to the riverbanks. The interior is characterized by expansive bays — distinctive wetland depressions — including Long Bay, Gum Bay, and the namesake Thousand Yard Bay.
