Toiyabe National Forest dominates this section of the Toiyabe Range in Nye County, showing a landscape defined by dramatic elevation changes and a network of high-desert drainage systems. The rugged interior is traversed by the Toiyabe Crest Natl Rec Trail, which follows the ridgelines above deep-set landmarks like Marysville Canyon and New York Canyon. The drainage patterns are clearly delineated, with Marysville Cr and Tierney Cr cutting through the western slopes, while S San Juan Creek and San Juan Cr flow through the northeast. To the southeast, the prominent French Peak serves as a significant topographical marker. This 2018 survey provides an detailed view of the access routes into the wilderness, including Main San Juan, alongside essential water sources such as Coyote Spring that have long dictated movement through this arid environment.
