About this map

Tieton serves as the focal point of this 2017 survey, situated at the eastern edge of a landscape defined by the transition from high ridgelines to fertile valleys. The town is surrounded by a complex network of agricultural infrastructure, including the Wapatox Canal and various irrigation laterals such as Lateral A and Lateral C. This system supports the Upper Naches Valley as it descends from the elevations of Bethel Ridge toward the Naches River in the north. The southern portion of the map is dominated by the broad Cowiche Basin and the rising slopes of Cowiche Mtn, where numerous seasonal drainages like N Fork Cowiche Cr and S Fork Cowiche Cr have carved distinct paths through the terrain. A dense grid of local roads, many named for local families such as Schenk Rd, Dilley Rd, and Rosenkranz Rd, reveals the settled character of the orchards and fields near the township.
