The South Umpqua River carves a deep valley through this timbered section of the Umpqua National Forest, providing the primary corridor for movement and settlement. At the junction of the river and Co HWY 46, the small community of Tiller serves as a central hub, while the settlement of Drew lies further southeast along Co Rd 1 near the area known as The Drew. These valley floors contain several important genealogical markers, including the Coffee Creek Cem, Rondeau Cem, and Rainville Cem.
