Simpson Peaks and the high elevations of the Absaroka Range dominate this alpine landscape in northwest Wyoming. The drainage patterns are defined by the S Buffalo Fork and Cub Cr, which carve through a high-altitude wilderness marked by Terrace Meadows and the formidable Breccia Cliffs. In the southeastern portion of the quadrangle, the geography shifts toward accessible recreation near Brooks Lake, where the Brooks Lake Campground serves as a hub for those navigating the waters of Upper Brooks Lakes and the isolated Upper Jade Lake. This 2012 survey shows the modern road network, including FH 2 and the route of 26 287 as they skirt the southern edges of the mountain passes, providing a clear view of the relationship between the high-country peaks like Breccia Peak and the critical water sources of Blackrock Cr.
