Los Padres National Forest contains this high-elevation backcountry in Ventura County, centered on the dramatic ridgelines of the Topatopa Mountains. The area is characterized by deep drainage systems and thermal features, most notably Willett Hot Springs located along the upper reaches of Sespe Cr. Significant peaks dominate the skyline, including San Rafael Peak to the north and Hines Peak further south, providing a topographical framework for the numerous named canyons like Bear Canyon and Lion Canyon.
