Chattahoochee National Forest dominates this landscape where the high ridges of Towns, Rabun, Habersham, and White counties meet. The remote settlement of Mountain Scene is perched along the upper reaches of the Hiwassee River, served by a roadway labeled simply as Turnpike. The terrain is characterized by a dense network of gaps and peaks, including the prominent Tray Mountain and the curiously named Dismal Mountain.

The Appalachian Trail winds across the southern portion of the map, crossing Tray Gap and Big Stamp as it follows the high crests.
