Kootenai National Forest and Kaniksu National Forest dominate this alpine landscape in northwestern Montana. The terrain is defined by a series of high peaks and ridges, including Treasure Mtn, Weir Peak, and Houser Peak, which separate numerous glacially-carved basins and water bodies. The hydrology of the area is particularly dense, with drainage systems such as Flower Cr, Parmenter Cr, and Granite Cr flowing from high-elevation sources like Lake Osakis, Upper Cedar Lake, and Crater Lake.
