The terrain is characterized by a series of alpine basins and glacial cirques, most notably the prominent Hanging Valley below Treasure Mountain. These basins collect into numerous high lakes, including Lake Osakis, Crater Lake, and the cluster of Sky Lakes, which serve as the headwaters for drainage systems like the West Fork Granite Creek and South Fork Parmenter Creek.
