Agate Falls and the Middle Branch Ontonagon River anchor this portion of the Ottawa National Forest in the southern reaches of Ontonagon County. The landscape is defined by the massive Bond Falls Flowage to the south and a network of water bodies including Sand Lake, Johnson Lake, and Millet Pond. Settlement is concentrated around Trout Creek and Agate, the latter situated near the Agate Cem.
