Navajo Canyon carves a deep, winding course through this high desert terrain in Coconino County, where the erosion of sandstone has created distinct landmarks. The northern reaches of the quadrangle are defined by the Navajo Cr drainage and the presence of Fernholes Natural Bridge, a rare geological formation noted near the canyon rim. To the south, the landscape rises toward high plateau features such as Gray Mesa and the prominent Tse Esgizii formation.
