About this map

Iditarod National Historic Trail segments cross this Alaskan landscape, following a historic northern route above the wetlands and lakes of the Little Susitna River. The territory is largely defined by the conservation boundaries of the Susitna Flats State Game Refuge and Goose Bay State Game Refuge, which protect the tidal flats and marshy lowlands south of Point Mackenzie. Inland, the terrain transition is marked by a prominent Moraine and numerous water bodies such as Diamond Lake and Carpenter Lake.
