About this map

The Arkansas River meanders through the heart of this Oklahoma landscape, carving a wide valley between the uplands of Waltham and Kaw. In the early 1960s, the small settlement of Uncas sat near the river's edge, served by the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railroad which skirts the southern bluffs. This era is defined by active resource extraction, with numerous Oil Wells, Quarries, and several Gravel Pits scattered across the township lines of Dale and Longwood.
