The South Santiam River valley serves as the primary corridor through this portion of the Willamette National Forest, where the small settlement of Upper Soda is established near the confluence of Soda Fork and Keith Creek. The landscape is defined by its water systems and forestry infrastructure, including the Rooster Rock Trail and an Old Road Grade tracing the river’s path. Public recreation is prominent at the Fernview Campground and Trout Creek Campground.
