Dixie National Forest defines the character of this Garfield County landscape, where the high-elevation Table Cliff Plateau and the Escalante Mountains descend into a complex network of drainages. The area is marked by dramatic geomorphology, most notably a deeply eroded badland region known as The Blues in the southwest and the vertical transition of the South Rim. Water is the primary sculptor here, with Upper Valley Creek and Henrieville Creek carving through the terrain alongside numerous named hollows like Pine Hollow and Pet Hollow. This modern survey illustrates the current road network used for forest access and recreation, including Pine Lake Rd and the Great Western Atv Tri, which provide passage through the high country near Yankee Meadow and Heaps Canyon.
