Ursine sits at the junction of several drainage systems in the high desert of Lincoln County, where the Meadow Valley Wash winds through a landscape defined by deep canyons and alluvial fans. The settlement pattern is sparse, centered around the small community of Ursine and the more remote Flatnose Ranch, which is supported by the Flatnose Ranch Spring. The area's geography is dominated by a complex network of dry washes and named canyons, such as Eagle Valley Canyon and Horsethief Canyon, which converge toward the main Eagle Valley floor.

Water management and natural drainage are central to the topography, evidenced by the extensive path of the Immigration Wash and numerous secondary channels like Gleason Canyon Wash and Serviceberry Canyon. Rising above these drainages, Little Summit and Deer Lodge Canyon mark the higher elevations to the east.
