Chugach National Forest encompasses the entirety of this glacial landscape, where massive ice fields and braided river systems dictate the geography. The northern reaches are dominated by the Cleave Cr Glacier, which feeds into Cleave Creek as it flows eastward. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, the expansive Schwan Glacier creates a complex network of glacial meltwater that feeds into the wide, braided corridor of the Tasnuna River.
