Wallace Ranch sits at the heart of this expansive prairie landscape where the borders of South Dakota and Nebraska meet. The terrain is defined by a dense network of seasonal drainages, including the branching reaches of Indian Cr, Alkali Cr, and Coyote Cr. These waterways carve through the plains, creating topographic variations such as Black Gulch and Buck Draw. This area is largely preserved within the Buffalo Gap National Grassland in Fall River County, with the southern margin transitioning into the Oglala National Grassland of Sioux County, Nebraska.
