1990 Map of Watts

About this map

Reese River Valley and the surrounding high desert of Lander County are documented here during the late twentieth century, showing a landscape defined by ranching and former industrial corridors. The central valley floor is marked by the presence of Watts (Site), a location that once served as a point of activity in this arid basin. To the west, the Fish Creek Basin and the winding course of Fish Creek provide a contrast to the rugged Mountains that dominate the western half of the sheet. Ranching operations are centered at the Fish Creek Ranch, while the legacy of early transport is preserved in the form of an Old Railroad Grade stretching across the valley floor. Evidence of smaller-scale mineral exploration is found near several prospect markings, while the southern reaches open into the distinctively named Valley of the Moon.
