This area, heavily defined by the Luke Air Force Range, is bounded by the Military Reservation Boundary to the north, where the Mohawk Valley begins. The topography is dominated by the jagged profiles of the Wellton Hills and the southern reaches of the Gila Mountains, including Sheep Mountain.
