The narrow valley of West Creek serves as the primary corridor for human activity in this deeply incised section of the Pennsylvania Wilds. Following the water, the Conrail line and local roads connect the small settlements of Truman and Howard Siding, providing a glimpse into the industrial and transit backbone of the region during the late 1960s. Much of the surrounding high ground is designated as Elk State Forest or State Game Lands No 14, where the terrain is dominated by steep-walled hollows and ridges like Moore Hill and Bryan Hill.
