The Nanticoke River and Wicomico River define this peninsula on the Eastern Shore, where tidal marshes meet agricultural uplands. In the early 1980s, the landscape was anchored by small landings and crossroads such as Wetipquin, Capitola, and Whitehaven. The presence of the Univ of Md Agr Exper Sta at Nutters Neck highlights the region's long-standing connection to agricultural research and production.
