Brookville Lake dominates the western landscape of this Franklin County region, where the steep bluffs of the Whitewater valley meet the agricultural uplands. The terrain is marked by a series of distinctive overlooks and named elevations, including The Mounds, Battle Point, and Garr Hill. Small settlements such as Whitcomb and Palestine serve as local hubs, connected by a network of historic pikes like Liberty Pike and Oxford Pike. The hydrology of the area is defined by the significant drainage systems of Little Cedar Cr and Big Cedar Cr, which have carved deep recesses into the land known locally as hollows. Notable among these are the descriptively named Sleepy Hollow and Possum Hollow. In the southwest corner, the Whitewater River flows past Mound Haven, reflecting a landscape deeply shaped by its waterways and glacial topography.
