Butte Mountains and the adjacent Butte Valley define this portion of White Pine County, Nevada, as it was recorded during a 1982 field check. This provisional study illustrates a landscape of high desert drainage and livestock infrastructure, where life centered on isolated water sources like Uhalde Well and White Sage Well. The terrain is marked by sharp topographic transitions, from the high peaks and canyons of North Canyon and Middle Canyon to the alluvial flats where scattered Water Tanks and a Corral point to the area's grazing history. The western edge is dominated by Robbers Roost Ridge, dropping down into Queue Valley, while Eightmile Point stands as a prominent navigational marker on the valley floor. Numerous bench marks, including BM 1964.9, help define the varying elevations of this remote high-altitude basin.
