Deep-cut drainage patterns define the landscape around Wilson and Centerville south of the city of Winona. This 2019 survey documents a series of prominent valleys, including Gilmore Valley, West Burns Valley, East Burns Valley, Wiscoy Valley, and Pleasant Valley, which channel small waterways like Gilmore Cr and Pleasant Valley Cr toward the Mississippi basin. The settlement pattern follows the high ridges and valley floors, connected by a network of rural roads such as Co Rd 44 and Co Hwy 12.
