1994 Map of Winfield

USGS Topo · Published 2001

About this map

The high alpine mining history of the Sawatch Range is preserved in this mid-1990s revision, where the Winfield and Vicksburg settlements anchor the drainage of Clear Creek. Situated along the boundary of the San Isabel National Forest and Gunnison National Forest, the landscape is defined by the high peaks of the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness. A legacy of extraction remains visible through the Banker Mine and various mines, mine sites, and prospect pits scattered across Middle Mountain and Granite Mountain.
