Gates of the Arctic National Park protects this stretch of the northern wilderness, where the high ridges of the Endicott Mountains dictate the flow of the land. In this 2016 survey, the drainage of Agiak Creek (labeled also as Agiak Cr) is the central hydrological feature, carving through high-elevation terrain within the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area. The topographic lines reveal a landscape of dramatic elevation changes and alpine basins, characteristic of the Brooks Range interior. This map is almost entirely devoid of human-made infrastructure, showing the region in its natural state where water and relief are the only landmarks for navigation and study.
