1959 Map of Zirconia

USGS Topo · Published 1972

About this map

Lake Summit and the Green River anchor this 1959 topographic record of the mountainous borderlands where North and South Carolina meet. The Southern railroad line threads through the northern portion of the sheet, serving Zirconia (Tuxedo Station) and the community of Tuxedo. The landscape is defined by the high elevations of the Blue Ridge Divide and the Saluda Mountains, a terrain that heavily influenced the development of numerous youth and social camps including Camp Arrowhead, Camp Green Cove, and the Elks Club Camp.
